Admiralty Island National Monument

Admiralty Island, located within Tongass National Forest can be reached by floatplane from Juneau or Sitka or by Alaska Marine Highway ferries. There are over one million acres of coastal rain forests, lakes, streams and meadows.

The area is teeming with wildlife. Alaskan brown bears, bald eagles, and fur-bearing animals exist in large numbers. Vancouver Canada geese and trumpeter swans are overhead, while harbor seals, sea lions and whales are offshore.

Campsites and open shelters are first-come-first served. Rustic cabins can be reserved. Boating and sea-kayaking are popular inshore and a canoe portage trail links nine interior lakes and bays. Please, leave no trace in this rainy wilderness.
