Fox is located in Fairbanks North Star Borough just north of Fairbanks between North Pole and Chatanika at the junction of Steese Hwy and Elliott Hwy.
Fox was a big gold mining camp named for nearby Fox Creek in the early 1900's. Old mine buildings, abandoned dredges and tailings in streams show old mining sites.
